Autogenic Training

The original autogenic training technique was developed by the Berlin neurologist Johannes Heinrich Schultz in 1927. His disciple, Wolfgang Luthe, investigated the reactions that occur when inducing a relaxation state through the self-suggesting feelings of weight and warmth.

The sessions are based on focusing the mind in short, repetitive statements, trying to imagine, as far as possible, the feeling they suggest. The muscle relaxation state is accompanied by feelings of weight and good blood circulation by pleasant internal warmth.

The key idea underlying the autogenic training strategy, is to provoke the "effect" on a voluntary basis, to experience the "cause," in other words, it is assumed that the relationship works both ways.

Stressless Paradise includes four sessions inspired by autogenic training, it is important to practice a minimum of 4 days with a session, numbered from 1 to 4 in the application menu, before starting the next one. Once you acquire the ability to proactively create the feelings, you can implement the most comprehensive session for weight and warmth in all extremities.

Progressive Relaxation

The sessions inspired by the progressive relaxation technique are based on implementing a voluntary cycle of tension and relaxation in different areas of the body. The same process applies for each area of the body, implement a voluntary contraction, becoming aware of the tension generated, stretching and strengthening the perception of suppression of the original tension.

The progressive relaxation method was developed by Edmund Jacobson in the early part of the century in order to cause peace of mind through the progressive suppression of muscular tension. Jacobsons original proposal was difficult for practical application due to the duration of the sessions.

Josep Wolpe adapted the technique and reduced to shorter sessions that could be done at home. The procedure was very similar, based on tensing and relaxing muscle groups to achieve deep relaxation.

The therapist guided the session using verbal instructions.

Stressless Paradise offers a standard progressive relaxation session in going over the different parts of the body, using the cycle of tension and relaxation. Relaxation can performed while seated, with feet flat on the ground at a distance equal to the width of the shoulders.
